It can be difficult to truly ascertain what it means for one to live authentically, when we as people are always growing and evolving, and are made of and influenced by a myriad of experiences, genetics, upbringing, influences and conditioning.
In this 2-hour experiential workshop, you’ll be invited to connect (or reconnect) with the aspects of yourself that bring you joy, freedom and confidence. You’ll also develop greater awareness about beliefs, patterns and habits that may be preventing you from living as authentically as you’d like to.
Reflecting & Journaling in Nature – hosted by Sarah Voss of Aldo Leopold Nature Center

This workshop will begin with a hike to orient ourselves with the natural world and the grounds at ALNC. We will then break off for some quiet reflection, where participants will be asked to find a sit spot and notice, journal, and meditate for 30 minutes or so.
We will close with some group time, sharing about our experience and ourselves around a campfire and enjoying some tea, steeped with herbs foraged on the grounds. Participants should dress for the weather, bring a blanket or cushion to sit upon, as well as a journal and something to write with. We will have paper and writing utensils for those who need them.
DIY Furniture Repair – hosted by Jeff Bundgaard of Habitat ReStore

We’re going to use our espresso blend to highlight the differences between several methods of brewing coffee.
First, we’ll start off with something simple, regular drip coffee. Next, we’ll get a little more in depth with a pour-over. Finally, we’ll finish it off with a shot of espresso. Our brilliant owner Steve, will be here to guide event goers through every step of the process, and give insight into the highlights of each method of brewing.

Join Dr. Amanda Sparks and Dr. Christopher Bird for an interactive workshop where we will guide you through the basics of kinesio-taping for pain relief and improved function. You will walk away with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to use Kinesio Taping on your own at home. Discover how kinesio-taping can make a big difference in your everyday life and create a happier healthier ‘You’ this year!
Please wear comfortable or loose-fitting clothing. Pants that can be rolled up over the knee or bring shorts you can change into, tank tops or tee shirts that the sleeves can be rolled up to expose the shoulder. Taping will be done on bare skin. Planned demonstration areas: Knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle. For demonstration purposes taping can be done over the top of leggings or clothing but will not be therapeutically effective.
Candlelit Snowshoe Hike – hosted by Aldo Leopold Nature Center

Gain a better understanding of what art therapy is, learn about who can benefit from it, and with the guidance of our registered art therapist, participate in an art therapy directive. In art therapy, we are more interested in the process of creating art over the actual finished product so there is no experience necessary and all ages and abilities are welcome.
All supplies will be provided as well. When words fail us, the process of creation can help us express ourselves in ways that spoken language cannot. Please join us for art making, conversation, and mental wellness.
